Education and training

Training courses

UKRIO is working with universities and other research organisations to provide education and training in the principles of the good practice of research and the use of our Procedure for Investigating Allegations of Misconduct in Research.

The training will include specific elements designed to meet the needs of managers, administrators and other research staff who could have a role in investigating allegations of misconduct in research.

Each two-day course features speakers who have responsibility for fostering good practice in research and investigating misconduct in research with Higher Education Institutions and representatives from UKRIO. Training will include a variety of case studies, practitioners relating their own experiences, and opportunities for delegates to share experiences and consider how research integrity is best supported in different contexts.

Delegates are able to attend one or both days according to their needs or can sign up for the stand-alone specialist session which will focus on a different topic relevant to research integrity each time the course is run.

Courses for the current academic year have now concluded but further courses are planned for 2010. For further information, contact UKRIO.

Assistance for research organisations

UKRIO is happy to give informal or formal input into institutional programmes for the education and development of staff and research students in good practice in research and related issues, for example research ethics, research governance, research design, collaborative research or publication and authorship.

UKRIO staff and members of our Register of Advisers are also available to give lectures to staff and students on good practice in research and research misconduct. Sessions are designed to share good practice in these areas and passed on the lessons that UKRIO has learnt through its advice and guidance services, backed up through practical work with case studies.

For further information on these services and our education and training programme, please contact UKRIO.
